Pain
Pain is an unpleasant sensation or discomfort in response to an injury or damage to tissues. This is caused by the activation of nerve endings called nociceptors. It is a protective mechanism of the body that alerts to potential or actual harm. Allowing for appropriate action to be taken by reflex responses and the bodies own healing capabilities.
Pain can be acute, lasting a short time, or chronic, lasting longer and often with a more complex origin eventually becoming systemic.
Pain can arise from:
- Acute injury
- Chronic trauma
- Post surgery
- Hormonal imbalance
- Autoimmune conditions
- Emotional trauma
- Cancer
- Vital Organ complications
